The peek-a-boo is a superb poker chip trick. People will be awed if you are able to do this trick smoothly and repeatedly. The peek-a-boo is a more complex variation of the chip twirl. So if you already know how to do that poker chip trick, you are on the way to having a super fancy trick beneath your sleeves.
The aim of the peek-a-boo is rather hard: using one hand and a stack of four chips, you roll the front chip out, twirl it, and return it back to the middle of the stack such that it pushes the middle chip out and flips it to the back of the stack.
Here is a step-by-step procedure on how to do the peek-a-boo.
1. Use a stack of four chips. It would be easier if you use two different colors of chips, just to make sure that you do this trick correctly. With your index finger and thumb, hold the stack by the edges of the chips. Position your fingers in such a way that they are on the diameter of the chips.
2. With your middle finger, pull the outermost chip down. Support it with your ring finger.
3. Simultaneously release your middle finger and clip the chip on the edges using your ring finger and the side of your index finger. Make sure you are clipping the edge firmly so that it won't fall.
4. With your free middle finger, push down on the edge of the chip so that it spins around once. Do not flick the chip. Push it down all the way through instead.
5. Before the chip rotates fully, position your middle finger on the edge of the chip. Now, you should have your index, middle, and ring finger touching the edge of the chip.
6. Using your middle and ring finger, push the chip back to the middle of the stack. The chip should push out another chip, thus the name "peek-a-boo."
7. Push the chip all the way in such that the other chip falls and flips to the other side. Catch it with your palm and smoothly arrange the stack with your hand.
8. Repeat as many times as you like.
The peek-a-boo is an awesome poker chip trick to look at. It is a fairly complicated trick, which could only be mastered by practicing. We recommend that you practice the chip twirl first, as it is easier and incorporates the same motions. If you don't succeed with your first few tries, be patient. Any poker chip trick could be mastered through a rigorous practice.
